Freya's Story

Please give a big welcome to Miss Freya! She is one of the Missouri mill dogs transported to Maine Sheltie Rescue. If you haven’t heard of them, please check out the story in the link below. Freya is about 4 months old, she has been vetted and currently up to date with all vaccines. She is too young to be spayed but it will need to be a condition of her adoption.

We are currently taking applications for Freya. Her foster family was a part of the transportation of the Missouri mill dogs to New England and are somewhat attached to this little girl. So needless to say they are committed to finding the perfect home for her.

A word from her foster family…
Freya is the sweetest, funny, energetic, snuggliest little girl. She came from a horrible place. She didn’t even have a name only a number. So giving her the name that she deserved was a high priority. She was very thin for a pup but has since put on weight. She now weighs 8.5 pounds. During her first week with us she would eat so fast for fear that she would not get another meal. She has learned that she no longer needs to feel that way as she gets 3 nourishing meals a day (and many yummy treats).

Freya was a little timid but she still craved the attention of parental love and affection of a family. She loves to snuggle, she will play full speed and then when she’s done will run to one of our laps to curl up for a nap. She will snuggle right up to you and sleep all night. Potty training is coming along nicely. Her new home will have to continue being diligent letting her out and knowing her ques. We have started puppy classes so that she will have a good start.

We would like her new home to continue with the next step training classes. We think Freya will be a loyal, fun loving Velcro dog (stuck to her owner’s side).

A word from Freya…
Hi I am Freya! I like to run and play with all kinds of toys, especially chew toys and squeaky’s and squishy balls and really just about and anything. Well, I am still teething ya know.

I love playing and rough housing with other dogs. My foster siblings are just too old and will only play for a little bit. But I liked them a lot, they help me feel safe. When I am done playing though, I enjoy getting snuggle time with mom or dad.

They have been socializing me a lot. Just yesterday we went to downtown Portsmouth on a doggie scavenger hunt and so many nice people gave me treats. I ended up really enjoying the day. We have gone to a beach and to parks and friends’ houses. I was really good in all those places. I go to puppy class with dad and am learning a lot.

My favorite place to be is anywhere my family is. My mom says I need to grow into my ears and get my full coat, but I’m super cute, in my opinion.

I would like my forever home to be:
• An active family and a home with another active young playful dog or doggie daycare
• I like walks, going to parks and probably would like hiking
• Walks on the beach
• Snuggle times
• I am super smart so I would love to continue training classes and maybe do some agility
• I like going for rides in the car and on vacations
• I would love a cuddly family and to sleep in the bed with them

We really want this for this special little pup, she totally deserves it.
