Frehley's Story

*SOFT VOICES, BELLY RUBS & A LITTLE PATIENCE ARE THE WAY TO MY HEART*

Hi, I'm Frehley!

I'm a sweet, sensitive Pyr who is settling into my foster home and showing everyone more of my personality as I learn that I'm safe and loved.

Once I know and trust you, you'll get to see a pretty adorable side of me. Ill greet you with a smile that shows off my teethies, along with the cutest little piggie grunts. I'm also a big fan of belly rubs—and don't worry, Ill let you know when I'm ready for one!

I'm potty trained, leash trained, and I enjoy playing with a ball and relaxing with my favorite bone. I've even been groomed and did a great job!

I'm still learning to be brave in a world that can sometimes feel a little overwhelming. Loud cars, sudden noises, unfamiliar people, and loud or high-pitched voices can make me nervous. Want to know the way to my heart? Speak softly. I respond especially well to gentle voices and even whispers.

I have some opinions about flooring, too. Hardwood? No, thank you! Tile makes me a little unsure, but carpet is definitely my happy place.

As I build trust, I'm comfortable with my people touching my head, ears, chin, chest, and belly. I'm more worried about anyone getting near my back end or hind legs, so I need someone who will respect my boundaries and give me the time I need to feel secure.

My foster family is helping me work through my fears, including improving my leash skills when something scares me. With patience and reassurance, I'm learning how to settle again after those scary moments.

My ideal person will understand Great Pyrenees and, even better, have experience with fearful or sensitive dogs. I don't need someone to rush me. I need someone who will listen to what I'm telling them, celebrate my progress, and help me continue building confidence at my own pace.

There's a happy, affectionate, belly-rub-loving boy underneath those worries, and my foster family is already getting to see him. With the right person by my side, I think I'm going to keep getting braver and braver.

Could you be the patient, loving person I've been waiting for?

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days

Our Mission
Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neuter...
