Freddie's Story

Hi, I'm Freddie! I'm a German Shorthaired Pointer mix who is 10 to 11 months old and weigh 64 pounds. I'm a super smart guy and I love to learn new things. Long Road Home rescued me from a Shelter and I'm living with a Foster family now and absolutely loving it. I'm so happy and love playing with their other dogs and being part of a family. I'm great at meeting new people and other dogs and you can see in my videos that I'm very respectful when I'm being introduced to other pups. I'm praying a great family finds me and will share their love and time with me. I'd love to go for walks, hikes, any adventure they're up for and even just play in the backyard. I'd love to live in a suburban area with a fully fenced yard. I'm healthy, neutered and up to date on all my vaccinations. Reach out to Long Road Home (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info and pics of me!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
