Fred Walker's Story

LOYAL, LOVABLE, & FULL OF SQUEAKY TOY JOY — FRED IS READY TO BE YOUR BEST FRIEND & FOREVER SIDEKICK!

I’m a sweet, loveable, goofy, and playful guy who’s come a long way from my very rough start in life. I’ve been through some tough times, but I’m bouncing back and living my best life with my foster family, while learning to trust again.

I’m completely potty trained, super smart, and loyal. I’ve learned a lot of commands like “sit” and “down.” I’m still working on “paw,” “stay,” and “heel.” I can be left alone without any issues, which is pretty awesome, right? I love being outside and going for walks. I'm really good on a leash, and I'm learning that those delivery trucks aren't out to get us. Even though it's still a struggle, I'm working on it every day.

I’m protective when it comes to my home and my favorite humans, so I’ll keep a watchful eye on anyone who seems suspicious. I’m especially protective of my foster momma – that's because she’s my person – but I’m ready to be your best friend too!

I have a favorite game I play with my foster dad—tug-of-war with my squeaky toys! I love all my toys, but the reindeer, dinosaur, and elephant are my top picks. I’ll bring one over and drop it in his lap to let him know it’s time to play. We’ll tug for a while, then I’ll swap it out for the next toy, and then another, until my toy box is almost empty. It’s our special nightly routine!

I tend to bond deeply with one person, which means it’s important that everyone in the home spends equal time with me so I learn to trust and feel safe with the whole family. Though with patience and consistency, I can learn to bond with anyone. I just need a family willing to work with me and help me feel secure.

Car rides are the BEST and I enjoy tagging along wherever you go.

I love to be brushed and petted and will happily lay at your feet when you're on the couch – just hanging out and relaxing together.

I’m looking for an adult-only home with a family who will love me, continue to build my confidence and trust, and be patient as I settle in. I'll show you all the love I have to offer and just how good of a boy I can be! If you think we’d be a good match, I’d love to meet you and start our next chapter together!

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days

Our Mission
Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neuter...
