Fred 's Story
Freddie. Set. Go!

Meet Fred, or Freddie. He is a 2 year old mix who’s paperwork calls him a Yorkie/Shih Tzu/Terrier mix. His foster mom calls him Freddie. He weighs just over 14#, has been neutered, vet checked, is up to date on shots. He is negative for parasites and heartworm. He is on a monthly heartworm preventative that needs to continue as he is a Texas transplant.

As a shelter rescue, nothing is known about his background. He is friendly and playful with all dog friends he has met. When it comes to people he is a little skittish at first, but not fearful and definitely not aggressive. There seems to be a trust factor that is getting better. He responds to his name and comes when called but sometimes will wait a moment just out of arms reach if he’s not ready to come in. He doesn’t get on furniture unless you pick him up. He will not go in his crate on his own but will not fight you putting him in. He is not treat motivated and we are working on what will motivate him for training purposes.

He loves to play with toys by himself if they don’t squeak. If his people try to play with him he gets a blank look. We think he may have had limited people involvement in his early days but again he is not fearful. Snow and playing outside are his absolute favorite right now. It’s new in his world and he can’t get enough! He is housebroken, walks well on a leash and rides in a crate in the car without any protest.

Because he is young he would do better with younger people and a fenced in yard. He is usually pretty laid back most of the time but once the weather warms up that could change. We have not seen him around young children or cats. His adoption fee is $375.
