Let's go do stuff!
I'm a fun-loving, energetic Catahoula and I really enjoy being around my people but I also like a little space for myself. Like a lot of Catahoulas, I take my time warmingup to people, but once we are friends, all I want to do is play and go places withyou! My favorite activities are swimming, hiking, dog parks, and tug of war. OH! And I LOVE riding in cars,head out of the window taking in all the sights and smells. I really enjoy chewingon a good bone and puzzle toys and can sleepall throughthe night in my room. I would like it if someone would get me a crate of my very own to sleep in, too. I knowall my basic cues(sit, stay, come, lay down, leave it),I sit at curbs, and walk likea gentlemanon my leash! I would prefer being an only dog so I can have your attention to myself. Also, the high energy of kids and too many people can get me riled up,so I would be greatin a smallhouseholdwithno kids. I really likemycat brother but he is very calm. If you have a calm cat already, I bet we would get along!

General Socialization Notes:

I like being in theroom with you and can be very cuddly at times, but I like to do this on my own terms. I don't like my paws beingtouched and I don't like being disturbed while I'm resting (who does, though?) so if I can be encouraged to rest on a dog bed in the room with you with a good chew toy, I'll be so happy. I walk like(mostly) a gentlemanon the leash but I do bark at dogs that are behind fences. I LOVE thedog park and running around with theother pups there. I sometimeswant to chase a little too much, but I'm getting reallygood at recall. Catahoulas like me take alittle time to warm up to people and it's best if you letme decide when someone new can pet me. Treats go a longway with me and I will letyou know when I'm ready forpets or snuggles.

Does Frankie like other pets?

I love other dogs at the dog park and I don't really pay them any mind on hikes or walks around theneighborhood. I would prefer to be an onlydog, though, so I don't have to compete for your attention. I'm very respectful of my cat brother and I can play gently with him, but he's very tolerant. If a cat ran away from me I might have to chase them.

Does Frankie like children?

I haven't had a chance to meet any children but they can be a little too loud and energetic so I would do best with olderpeople that canrespectmy personal space (16+).

Favorite toys:

Tug of war is LIFE! I will play tug until I fall over. I also really likepuzzle toys to keep me engaged while you are at work and of course a good bone or stuffed Kong is welcome. I love those soft stuffed toys too much and will eat them within seconds. For the sake of my digestive system, I really shouldn't have those. Although it's not a toy, lake days are the best in the summer! I can swim in circles forever (maybe get me a life vest) and it is the most efficient way for me to get tired out.

Ideal forever home:

I will need an experienced best friend to bond with who can help me keep learning good-boy behaviors and will keep me physically and mentally stimulated. I'm a pretty independent guy by nature so I'm not the kind of dog that'sgoing to shower you with kisses but I still want to be included in whatever you're doing. Someone that loves running and/hiking would be awesome! I would love to be part of one of the running club groups at thevariousbreweries where we can get ourexercise and then hang out on a patio relaxing and eating snacks. I need someone to give melots of consistency and I don't wantto share myhome with another dog probably,unless they are female but I still want to go to thedog park and socialize!
