Foxy was surrendered to. the New York Animal Care Centers due to his owner having housing issues.<br/><br/>Due to the shelter overcrowding, Foxy's time was limited. He also would do well with someone who is home a lot and can help him get over his separation anxiety over time. He's slow to warm up but is a great dog. He's very good with other dogs. <br/><br/><br/>He likes to steal a ball or frisbee and get chased by other dogs. He is both a couch potato and high energy just in bursts of 45 min playtime. Hes big into stretching and does a full downward and upward dog routine. <br/><br/>Foxy has a lot of anxiety around new people, crowds of people, and when left alone. He can be determined to escape the crate if left alone. He's not currently able to be left alone in the house for periods greater than 20 minutes, but were working on increasing the time. He does pull on walks and hard barks at strangers at the door. His anxiety seems to translate into frequent bathroom needs, but with 4 walks a day he has no trouble in the house. <br/><br/>I think Foxy needs an outlet for his nervous energy with a couple long vigorous play sessions a day. He also needs a lot of reassurance to build his confidence. He will need a person who is patient and committed to him to do gradual exposure therapy for his anxiety triggers (being around new people, places, or alone). Overall hes a great dog and were seeing steady progress over time.
