Foster's Story
FAST FACTS:
*1 year old & 85lbs
*Dog-friendly
*Older children preferred due to size
*Working on potty training
*Working on crate training
*No shared walls and requires someone home often

If you’ve ever wanted a giant puppy with a hound’s nose, a comedian’s personality, and the emotional attachment of a velcro dog, Foster is your guy! This 1-year-old, 85-pound suspected Hound/Lab mix (with more growing potentially on the agenda) hasn’t had the easiest start in life. After coming to us from Texas stressed, anxious, and in need of some TLC, his goofy, dopey-sweet personality is finally shining through. He loves belly rubs, flashes the cheesiest grin, and would happily spend all day glued to his favorite humans. Personal space? Never heard of it.

Foster is a happy, people-pleasing boy who loves sniffy walks, bones, toys, and simply being near his people. He’s also very food-motivated, which should make training a fun and rewarding experience! He enjoys other dogs, too, but his enthusiasm can get the better of him, so slow introductions and a patient, tolerant canine companion are important if his future home has another dog.

Now for the honest part: Foster is a BIG boy with BIG energy and some big-boy skills still to master! He’s working on leash manners (he’s strong and pulls), potty training, and puppy manners like jumping and mouthing. He’ll need an active family, ideally with hound or working-breed experience, who can provide plenty of exercise, structure, and enrichment. He also struggles when left alone and can be quite vocal, so a home without shared walls, an adopter who’s home often, and ideally a big backyard would be wonderful. He’s also receiving medicated baths to help restore his skin and coat.

Foster is looking for a patient, committed family willing to help him become the best version of himself. He’ll need continued training, companionship, and someone who understands that beneath all that goofy energy is a loving dog who just wants to belong. He may be a loud, lovable handful right now, but with the right people in his corner, we know he has so much potential. Got room in your home, time in your schedule, and a little extra space in your personal bubble? Foster is ready to steal your heart (and probably your couch)!

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS, NO EXCEPTIONS:

*ADOPTION FEE: $400

*Be at least 21 years of age

*Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household

*Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease)

*Have a valid ID with current address (please provide proof of address if ID address is not up-to-date)

*Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation

*Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment

*QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR POLICIES?
