Larger dogs should be calm and respectful of his delicate frame.

CATS: YES - Flea has the potential to live with a cat, provided introductions are done appropriately.

ENVIRONMENT: Flea is adaptable and could thrive in a variety of homes, including detached houses, townhomes, and condos. His adopter should be prepared to guide him through house training, crate training, socialization, and basic manners.

TIME & SUPERVISION: Young puppies require frequent bathroom breaks, consistent routines, and plenty of supervision. Flea will benefit from a family that has the time to help him learn and succeed.

SOCIALIZATION & TRAINING: Continued positive experiences with people, animals, and new environments will help Flea grow into a confident and well-rounded adult dog.

ABOUT FLEA:
Don't let his tiny size fool you, Flea is a little dog with a big personality.
At just 12 weeks old and approximately 3 pounds, this adorable Yorkshire Terrier mix puppy is full of curiosity, confidence, and puppy charm. He approaches life with enthusiasm and a healthy dose of terrier tenacity, always ready to investigate, play, and find his next adventure.
Flea loves toys and can often be found carrying them around, tossing them in the air, or inviting his dog friends to join in the fun. He especially enjoys playing with other small dogs who can match his energy and help him burn off some of that puppy excitement.
Like any young puppy, Flea is still learning about the world around him. Everything is new, and he will rely on his family to teach him what it means to be a well-mannered companion. Potty training, leash walking, appropriate chewing habits, and learning to be comfortable alone are all skills that will require patience and consistency.
Flea can be quite vocal when left by himself for long periods, so his future family should be prepared to help him gradually build confidence and independence.
This sweet little guy is looking for a family that understands puppies don't come pre-programmed. They require time, training, patience, and commitment. In return, Flea promises plenty of laughs, endless entertainment, and the joy that only a happy puppy can bring.
If you're ready for the adventures of puppyhood and are looking for a fun-loving little companion with a big heart, Flea may be the perfect addition to your family.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO APPLY?

If you would like to meet Flea, please submit an inquiry from Petfinder by clicking "Start your inquiry" on this page.

Or reach out directly via email to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes.
Children: Yes
Cats: Yes
Dogs: Yes
Training Needs: Puppy Raising
Adoption Fee: $391

If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence.

For more information on our adoption process, go to vancouver.ca/adopt
