Finnigan's Story

Finnigan is a 4 year old mini golden x who's heart fills his entire body. This 45 lb love-o-liscous is totally committed to finding a person who will love him as much as he will love them. This boy is the complete package for country living - never ventures far, has excellent recall, and he is the best companion for doing all your chores together. No more stacking wood, cutting trails, or gardening alone... your Finnpanion awaits!

This sweetie pie has been in a busy foster home with other northerns and is soaking up the newness of having people love him and care for him. Even though he was a tied lawn ornament in his previous life, he has good dog skills and adores his foster four leggeds. He can introduce himself to new dogs with too much speed and gusto, but once his intro is done, he's happy to include them in his dog posse. When funning offleash, he enjoys the company of others but his priority is his person and he checks back often to make sure she's still there. He will give love licks or hand nibbles on walks when her arm swings near him and don't forget his fabulous recall where he will stop mid flight at a full run to respond.

Finnigan is house trained and crate trained though he doesn't need his crate and he's thankful for that. He is quiet in the house and totally ignores the cats who come and go in his space. He is better than any alarm system as he will bark when people come to the door or drive into the driveway. Leash walking is a work in progress but since his best home is on his own piece of country, this is something he most likely won't do much of.

Finnigan is a medium sized cuddle bug. To anyone in his inner circle, he's a joy with lots of love to give and like any of us, some quirks as well - like still not letting his foster dad into his circle of trust. Like many dogs, Finn can be slightly wary of men at first but sometimes he's all over them right away. Apparently it's an energy thing and Finn knows who he feels safe with. He loves women and older children will most likely be considered friends.

Finnigan is certified THE BEST sidekick in the world. He's sooooo dependable outside that a fence is not necessary and he won't venture far just in case he misses you turning left when he went right. He would love a dog sister or brother to play with but he doesn't need one to lean on, just as a friend. When you're a dog, it's just nice to have dog companionship so you can speak dog and do dog, but ultimately, his person is

Finnigan is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated (DAPP and rabies). His adoption fee is $750.

Adoption process includes application, virtual home visit, phone interview, reference check, meet & greet, adoption contract and $750 adoption fee.

Fill out an adoption application below (copy the link below into your browser).

***Fill out the ADOPTION APPLICATION at:
https://signup.ifaw.org/en-ca/northern-dogs-adoption-application-form

Finlove awaits.

Northern Dogs Project's Adoption Policy
Northern dogs are not a breed but a lifestyle. Until recently most dogs were free roaming but communities are now making changes to how they want to coexist with dogs and many are now tying. Dogs are all identified by Animal Care and are adopted to families in the south as family members only. Northern dogs are smart, experienced, dog social, have been handled by kids, feel safe with women, and are slightly unsure of men at first. Dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (core vaccines DAPP and rabies), microchipped and dewormed.
