Finley's Story

FINLEY IS BEING FOSTERED IN OHIO. APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED NATIONWIDE.

This handsome boy is Finley. He's about 2 years old, about 50 pounds, and was rescued with a bunch of other ESy dogs who were abandoned in a field this Spring. Two months in a wonderful foster home with others dogs, cats, people plus vet care like vaccines and neutering and he's finally ready for his forever home.

Finley is living successfully with a bunch of dogs but he can be pushy with softer dogs. However he takes correction well and is not aggressive. He a true English Shadow and is particularly attached to his foster mom. He is housebroken, crate trained, loves car rides, and just wants to be someone's best buddy.

Finley was born with a minor birth defect - his lower jaw is very short and slightly wry (off center). This does not stop him from enjoying life at all. He knows how to take treats and gnaw on chew toys just fine. When he was neutered NESR had x-rays taken to get a better idea of just what was going on with his jaw. The Vet feels this is not causing him pain and should not get worse. Potential adopters can show the x-rays to their Vet if they want.

Because of his short jaw his tongue often hangs out, which tends to give him an adorable derpy look but don't let that fool you, he's as smart as every other English Shepherd. He also seems to drink and pant more - probably due to his unique jawline being less efficient - but he's a happy boy who doesn't know he's "different" and doesn't let it bother him.

Finn is in Ohio but can definitely travel for the right home. This special boy is going to be someone's forever heart dog for sure.

If you would like to know more about Finley, please contact jan@caledoniamission.org Please put NESR Finley in the subject line.

We encourage all prospective adopters to read more about the breed, the adoption process, and all the dogs in our care by visiting our website (www.nesr.info). An adoption application is required of all prospective adopters.
