Finley's Story

🐾 Meet Finley 🐩

Finley is a 1-year-old Standard Poodle weighing in at 48 lbs, with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s everything you love about the breed—affectionate, active, loyal, and incredibly smart. His favorite place is right beside his person, and he absolutely lives for playtime with his foster fur siblings.

Finley is extra special. He is a double merle, meaning he inherited the merle gene from both parents. This genetic combination can come with significant challenges, and in Finley’s case, he was born blind due to microphthalmia (his eyes were significantly smaller than normal). He has since had a double enucleation and is thriving—no more discomfort or infections, just a happy boy living his best life.

He is also partially deaf… or at least he likes to pretend he is. The selective hearing is strong with this one. But when he does respond, you’ll get the cutest little head tilt as he tries to figure out where you are.

Despite being completely blind, Finley adapts beautifully. He uses the dog door, finds his water bowl with ease, confidently navigates to beds and couches for snuggles, and is fully leash trained. Once he learns his environment, it’s game on. Because of that, he does best in a home where things stay fairly consistent.

Finley is looking for:
A fully fenced yard (no in-ground pools unless securely fenced or closely supervised—he loves water and will absolutely take himself for a swim)
Someone home more often than not
A predictable environment where he can continue to learn and thrive

He would do well with or without kids, though his enthusiasm (and lack of vision) means he may accidentally knock over smaller ones. He loves other dogs but does best with no more than one companion and especially enjoys a playful female dog—bonus points if it’s another poodle or poodle mix with a similar play style. He is also cat-friendly.

Finley is crate trained, though he may voice his opinion about it. Like most smart dogs, he thrives with consistency, structure, and clear expectations—and yes, we have him figured out whether he agrees or not.

Grooming Note: As a Standard Poodle, Finley requires professional grooming every 4–6 weeks to keep his coat healthy and mat-free. He does great for grooming—this is simply part of responsible ownership for the breed.

Finley may be blind and partially deaf, but he experiences the world with his whole heart. He is loyal, cuddly, resilient, and ready to bond deeply with his person. If you’re looking for a devoted companion with a joyful spirit, Finley may be your perfect match. 🖤🐾

Adoption Info:
All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/ neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption.
Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following:
All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation.
All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations.
All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention.
Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention.
To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here:

Please note:
The dog you're applying for might already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network Don't worry though - we're always happy to help you find another great match if that happens!
