Figgy's Story

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization.

Meet Figgy
(Pending Medical Clearance)

Figgy is searching for his forever soulmate—someone who will truly appreciate all he has to offer and give him the love and care he missed before rescue. This sweet little guy is all heart, cuddles, and personality.

Figgy made his way to us from Pug Rescue of Korea (via Los Angeles) after a long journey through rescue. Originally saved in July 2025 from a private shelter in Korea, he quickly won over everyone he met—especially his devoted LA foster mom, who cared for him from January until his journey to the East Coast in late March.

About Figgy

Known affectionately as Sir Isaac Fig Newton, Fignacious, and Figgy Puddin, he fully embraces all his adorable alter egos. He’s a laid-back companion who enjoys slower-paced walks and has excellent leash manners.

Figgy is the definition of a velcro pug—he wants to be by your side (or right on top of you!) whenever possible. When you come home, he’ll greet you with happy little “seal barks,” making you feel like the most important person in the world. Despite his enthusiasm, he shows no signs of separation anxiety—he’s just thrilled to see you.

His favorite things include:

Snuggling (his top priority!)
Back scratches
Cozy couch time

He’s gentle, polite, and refined—even with food! Figgy takes treats delicately, eats slowly, and already knows how to sit patiently at mealtime like a little gentleman.

Home Life & Habits

Pee pad trained (helpful for rainy days—he prefers to stay dry!)
Great in the car—he settles quickly and often naps during rides
Learning stairs and improving his confidence (doggy steps pro-in-training!)
Good for most grooming, though nail trims are...very pug

And yes—he has opinions! Expect commentary if a dog appears on TV or if the doorbell rings.

Medical & Care Needs

Figgy has an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), which is well-managed with a simple daily medication given on an empty stomach. His health and coat have improved significantly since treatment began.

Additional care needs:

Eye condition (PK): requires eye drops/ointment twice daily (he’s very cooperative!)
Skin sensitivity: prone to yeast infections, so regular monitoring and care are important
Monthly medication costs are approximately $150

With recent travel and environmental changes, he’s had some temporary skin flare-ups. We expect improvement as he settles into a consistent routine in his forever home.

Social Notes

Can be a bit bossy or humpy with other dogs—will need guidance and structure
Should be fed separately if living with other dogs
May chase cats—likely not the best match for most feline households
Would thrive as:

An only dog with lots of human companionship, or
A companion to a confident, well-adjusted dog

From His Foster Mom in LA

“Figgy is such a sweetheart. He listens well and gives these long, soulful stares like he’s trying to figure out what species you are. He’s funny, loving, cuddly, and affectionate—a little treasure waiting to be discovered by the right family.”

Adoption Details

Adoption Fee: $900
($400 based on age + $500 international travel fee)

âœ... If you think a pug is right for your family and you meet the criteria, please apply to adopt on our website at www.pugrescueofnewengland.org.

BE SURE TO REFERENCE THE SPECIFIC PUG!

Our mission is simple: we find homes for abandoned and surrendered pugs in New England. Our pugs will be UTD on shots and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. You must be a resident of the New England states. Due to a change in state regulations, we are no longer adopting outside of New England.

PRoNE is supported by adoption fees, donations and funds raised through auctions and events.
