Meet Fen
FEN IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Fen is a big, squishy lug of a lad, weighing in at 95ish pounds. Fen is friendly with people and said to be good with dogs and kitties, although he may give the kitties a good test or two and want to play Fen style, which is BIG puppy play!
Fen is a total sweetie, he is sensitive, loving and loyal.
Fen is can be apprehensive with new people, he needs a proper slow introduction at times, but we have noticed he always ends up taking each new person and tucking them into his personal Fen nest of besties. He just goes a tiny bit slower than most, he is a first base sorta guy, no jumping to 3rd! He is old fashioned.
Fen was born with two musculoskeletal conditions, hip dysplasia (the large bones of the upper legs do not fit properly into the hip sockets, which eventually leads to arthritis and two bad knees (cranial cruciate ligament disease (CCLD). Fen has had two knee surgeries (double TPLO). His latest TPLO surgery on his back left knee is still healing, it can take up to 16 weeks to fully recover from this surgery. He is bearing weight on his back knee/leg, and recently had the pin removed to see if that would improve his mobility and pain during his recovery. It has! He is looking GOOD!
Fen also has moderate hip dysplasia and bowed back legs, but he has never known anything other than this! He looks in the mirror each day and says.. " hello you sexy guy, you are smart, you are loved, you are amazing, let's DO THIS!"
Fen has been a nothing but a patient, gentle, sweet boy to veterinary staff at IHS, through all his exams and surgeries. We are hoping for a complete and successful recovery so Fen can resume full activity, it just takes time to heal! It is not his fault he was born due to irresponsible humans who bred dogs with genetic orthopedic disorders.
BREED: Bull Mastiff/Cane Corso mix

HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped
GOOD WITH: Other dogs; older 10+ (due to his size), respectful children; okay with cats as long as he is supervised; other small animals unknown
