Ezra's Story

For Adoption: Ezra!

Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle.
We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows
for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.
To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/.

Meet Ezra – A Soft Little Shadow Ready to Love 💛🐾

At 4.5 years old, Ezra, the Bichon Frise, is a joyful dog. She is a tiny thing, only weighing 8.5lbs, but is big on happiness and love. After coming from a commercial breeding facility, Ezra is learning that the world can be safe, kind, and full of love. Everything is still a bit new to her, but she approaches life with bravery, a sense of curiosity and a lot of affection.

What she’s sure about, though, is people. Ezra loves her humans. She wants to be near you, part of your day, included in the little moments. Whether you’re moving around the house or settling in to relax, Ezra will happily be your soft, loyal shadow. She’s wonderful with kids older than 7 and thrives on that sense of connection and companionship.

Ezra is starting to show her curiosity by getting into places she shouldn’t. She will need guidance and reminding of where not to go. Ezra is generally house-trained, thanks to learning from her foster sister and brother dogs. She would benefit from having a sound like bells as a reminder that she needs to go out. She will relieve herself in a yard or during a walk.

She also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and may even benefit from having a confident canine friend to help show her the ropes as she continues learning about the world. Ezra is learning to play with other dogs and is starting to show some interest in playing with toys. She would benefit from a forever home that can encourage these behaviours. She would also be fine being the only dog in the home and getting all of her people’s attention.

Ezra travels well in the car when in her kennel and settles in nicely for the ride. At night, she sleeps quietly in her kennel without any issues. During the day, she may voice her opinion if she thinks she’s missing out on something fun—after all, she’s making up for lost time and wants to be part of the action! She will settle into a quiet sleep/rest in her kennel during the day if the house is quiet or if her family is also napping along with her. After all, we can all benefit from a good nap from time to time.

Because of her past, Ezra doesn’t need a busy lifestyle. She is learning leash etiquette while walking and is responding well to praise, as she is not treat-motivated. Short walks are perfect for her right now, and she would do just fine in an apartment or quieter home. If she is welcomed into a forever home with another dog, she may take some time learning how to walk in a pack. Ezra tends to like short, slow walks where she sniffs EVERYTHING and must meet EVERYONE. What she truly needs is patience, reassurance, and a family that will let her build confidence at her own pace.

Ezra has been spayed, and has also had significant dental work due to advanced gum disease, and most of her teeth have been removed. She’s feeling so much better now and has adapted wonderfully.

Ezra would like to stay close to her people and feel safe being part of everyday life. A calm, patient environment will help her continue to learn and grow at her own pace, building confidence along the way. She would do wonderfully in a home with teen kids and/or other friendly dogs, as she enjoys companionship and gentle interactions. She doesn’t need a lot of space to be happy, making her a great fit for either an apartment or a house, as long as she has her people nearby.

She absolutely loves to cuddle and will happily soak up affection whenever it’s offered. She also enjoys the outdoors and has a natural curiosity, loving to explore and take in everything around her. She’s an astute, observant girl who is aware of her surroundings, and she takes things like traffic in stride without fear, making her a confident little companion for everyday adventures.

Name: Ezra

ID # PDR1489

Age: 4yr

Gender: female

Spayed: yes

UTD vaccines: yes

Breed: Bichon Frise

Colours: white

Coat length: med

House trained: yes

Special needs: no

OK with kids: older

OK with cats: yes

Ok with dogs: yes

Status: adoptable

Microchip: yes

Size: small

Location: Kitchener

Adoption fee: $700
