Evermore's Story

Introducing Evermore, a 5–6-month-old, 30-pound Great Pyrenees mix who may also contain traces of Golden Retriever or Labrador. Her precise genetic recipe remains a mystery, but our leading theory is that someone combined a baby black bear, a toasted marshmallow, and the human embodiment of finding out your meeting was canceled—and then added paws.

Pickup Location: Oklahoma City, OK
-Adopter will need to pick up in person if approved. We do not do transports.

Apply here:
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Evermore is sweet in the way a bakery display is sweet: excessive, irresistible, and fully capable of ruining whatever self-control you thought you had. She is playful, generally happy, and carries herself with the cheerful optimism of someone who has never paid a bill, scheduled a dentist appointment, or discovered that “quickly folding the laundry” is one of humanity’s most enduring lies. At 30 pounds, she is currently a perfectly manageable armful of fluff—but please understand that this is merely the travel-size edition. With Great Pyrenees somewhere in her family tree, Evermore may eventually become less “adorable fluffy puppy” and more “sentient area rug who blocks the hallway and requires snacks.” Right now, though, she is in that delightful stage where her paws appear to have been ordered two sizes too large, her coordination occasionally resembles a shopping cart with one bad wheel, and every ordinary household object has the potential to become the most exciting discovery of her young life.

Evermore loves people and has never met a stranger—only friends who have not yet received their complimentary Evermore welcome package. Said package currently includes a happy greeting, several kisses, and occasionally more feet leaving the ground than professional etiquette recommends. We are working on teaching her that affection can be delivered without briefly becoming airborne. She can be timid around unfamiliar things, but she is not the sort of timid that requires a fainting couch and smelling salts every time a grocery bag moves. She simply likes a moment to study new situations, consult the invisible committee in her head, and confirm that nobody is attempting to sell her an extended car warranty. Once she decides something is safe, she adjusts quickly and tries her very best. She is eager to please in the way of a tiny assistant who may not understand the assignment but has already brought you three pencils and a stick. Evermore loves other dogs. She meets them with the warmth of an aunt who has not seen you since Thanksgiving and has already decided you look too thin. She especially enjoys playing with dogs around her own age, but she is also beautifully respectful of older dogs. When Mama Melody lets her know she is being a bit much, Evermore does not argue, pout, or post a vague complaint on Facebook. She simply lowers her intensity and says, “Absolutely, ma’am. Thank you for the feedback.” She has better conflict-resolution skills than most corporate management teams. Evermore has encountered the resident cat, and their meeting contained roughly the same amount of drama as two strangers passing in the cereal aisle. Evermore looked at the cat. The cat looked at Evermore. Both appeared to think, That seems like someone else’s department, and carried on. She has not been around children, so we cannot offer a peer-reviewed conclusion on that subject. We refuse to pad her résumé with fictional childcare experience just because she once watched a toddler on television.

Her energy level is about a six out of ten. She enjoys playing and sometimes participates in pre-bedtime zoomies, but she is not a furry can of Red Bull with unresolved legal issues. When playtime is finished, Evermore settles down and watches her people. She does not need to climb inside your rib cage and rent a studio apartment near your spleen. She is perfectly content to relax nearby and wonder whether you plan to finish that sandwich. Evermore enjoys toys, although her approach to fetch is philosophically complex. She will chase the toy because movement is exciting and she supports your decision to throw things. Returning it, however, seems inefficient. You deliberately launched the object away from yourself, and now you expect her to reverse your work? Evermore is a dog, not the consequences department. She believes humans must learn from their choices. A securely fenced yard would make her very happy, especially if it came with a doggy door. Evermore enjoys exploring for bugs and sticks, which she evaluates with the concentration of a museum curator authenticating a priceless artifact. One stick may be rejected for inadequate crunch. Another may be selected as the finest specimen of the season and carried around like she just won it at auction. When her important fieldwork is finished, she enjoys lying in the morning sun or evening shade like a tiny Victorian heiress recovering from a mild disagreement over the family estate.

Evermore is doing wonderfully with potty training and has remained accident-free when kept on a consistent potty schedule. Evermore is learning her commands. “Sit” is nearly ready for public release, while “stay” and “leave it” have begun appearing in limited previews. She is clever and eager to please, although puppy concentration is what happens when you give a butterfly goldfish control of the television remote. She understands the assignment right up until something wiggles in the grass, at which point the meeting is adjourned. Evermore has not been kenneled. When her foster leaves, she stays in her own room and does very well. She does not chew inappropriate objects, guard her belongings, attempt escape, or bark whenever a neighbor blinks too loudly. Her barking is reserved for play, which means she has not yet received her official Great Pyrenees Neighborhood Complaint Department badge.

If Evermore sounds like the pup your family has been missing, please fill out an adoption application. And yes, you do need to complete the entire thing. Unfortunately, “I want her,” seventeen heart emojis, and a solemn promise that you are “literally obsessed” do not provide her foster family with enough information to determine whether you are Evermore’s forever person. We have checked. Apparently, enthusiasm is not a legally recognized substitute for questions about your veterinarian, household, current pets, and plans for Evermore.

Once your application is received, we can send it to her foster family for review—because they know her best and are responsible for determining which lucky household gets promoted to her happily ever after.

Evermore is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and her adopter must pick her up there in person. She will not be shipped, delivered, teleported, catapulted across state lines, or placed on a fluffy little Greyhound bus with a suitcase and printed directions. Please make sure you are willing and able to travel to OKC before applying for this sweet girl.

Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
