Meet Eve

Eve is perfect. She is a Bull Terrier/mix pup who LOVES people and ADORES other dogs. She is happy and loving, and she is growing up here right before our very eyes?
Sadly, we know that the reason everyone passes her by is because she has a very manageable condition called Megaesophagus.
When you meet Eve, she is your typical happy, funny, silly, happy puppy! She is not “sick” at all with this condition — All she has to do is eat upright in her pink chair and remain upright for 20 minutes after meals!
We don’t want people to be deterred by her having a condition, and instead want to educate on what Megaesophagus is and how dogs affected by the condition lead normal, loving, happy, active lives!
Canine Megaesophagus is a condition that decreases mobility in the muscles of the esophagus, the tube that connects the mouth and stomach. The muscles in the esophagus don’t properly coordinate the swallowing movement when a dog eats or drinks, and the food and liquid sits in the esophagus, stretching it and preventing the food and nutrients from being absorbed properly.
One of the main things dogs with megaesophagus need to do is sit upright when they eat to prevent the food from collecting in the esophagus. Eve is amazing in her chair and has learned quickly this is the way her life is, and she doesn’t let it hold her back AT ALL!
This sweet puppy deserves a family and the best life has to offer. We are certain we can find the most loving home for this sweet girl. Her life is being spent solely in a shelter, and there isn’t a girl in that world that deserves a home and family to love her more than Eve does ??
