Etta came to us a stray, having eluded those trying to capture her for about a week. A somewhat free spirit and independent gal, she initially found the adjustment to shelter life challenging. She is ready for a forever home with an experienced shepherd family who will understand and appreciate her for who she is.
Her behaviors epitomize those of a shepherd: Independent,smart, sometimes appearing a bit aloof on the surface, but in fact, deeply connected at the depths of her soul. Like most shepherds, Etta is incredibly loyal to those she knows, but will likely be protective and leery of those she doesn't know. Given that, we would suggest that anyone considering adopting Etta be able to visit and spend time with her on several occasions, affording you time to get to know one another.

Etta is a joy to be with! She walks well on the leash, loves car rides, a good game of fetch, entertaining herself with a squeaky ball, or splashing in the creek. She enjoys a good brushing and a nice warm bath. She has mastered sit, stay, down, wait, leave it and is working on left and right.

Etta would do best in a quiet home with experienced shepherd owners. While she is accepting of other dogs, she would likely appreciate being an only dog in the household.

The adoption fee for adult dogs is $225. All have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, kennel cough, DH(L)PP, have had a complete fecal analysis, treated for internal and external parasites, are heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative and flea and tick preventative and are microchipped.
