Espi's Story

Meet Espi. A Gentle Soul Learning That the World Can Be Kind. She is about 5-6 years old.

She was found severely starved on an abandoned property, left to fend for herself. Despite everything she’s been through, Espi has shown us that her heart is still open. She is a very sweet girl, she just needs a little time to feel safe with new people.

She is shy at first and takes some time to trust. The best way to win her over is actually to give her space and let her come to you. Fast movements toward her face or coming towards her too fast can make her nervous so patience and calm energy goes a long way with this girl. Once she realizes she’s safe, she will ask you for pets by giving you her paw.

She is house trained, crate trained and does well with other dogs. While she isn’t necessarily looking for a constant playmate, she enjoys hanging out and coexisting with other dogs.

Espi is very food motivated. She hasn’t quite mastered taking treats gently from your hand yet, but she absolutely loves playing catch with treats and will happily participate in a snack toss session.

Because Espi is still learning to feel safe in the world, she would do best in a calm, adult only home. Older, respectful environments where people understand that trust takes time will allow her to thrive. She can live with or without other dogs.

She just needs someone patient enough to let her unfold at her own pace. If you believe in giving dogs a second chance and understand the time and compassion they deserve, Espi might be the girl you’ve been waiting for.
