Ernie's Story
ERNIE - Chi-Poo / 9.5 Years / 6 KG / M-Neutered

Silver around the muzzle. Still first down the stairs. While his paperwork says "Chi-Poo," we're convinced there's a big Chihuahua personality tucked inside that scruffy little body.

Ernie likes to know what's happening at all times and firmly believes that every household activity benefits from his supervision. Whether you're gardening, folding laundry, making dinner, or simply moving from one room to another, he'll be right there to oversee the operation. Ernie forms strong bonds with his people and is happiest when he's nearby. He loves companionship, enjoys being involved in daily life, and has recently taken on additional responsibilities as backyard patrol officer, carefully exploring every corner of the yard before checking back in with his humans. Around the house, he's sweet, affectionate, and always ready to helpwhether you asked for assistance or not. Don't let his age fool you. Ernie may be 9.5 years old, but he still approaches life with enthusiasm and purpose. He has a habit of turning everyday moments into friendly competitions and somehow manages to be first at everything. He can be sound asleep one moment and still beat everyone down the stairs the next.

His foster family quickly discovered that "senior dog" and "slow dog" are definitely not the same thing. Ernie's perfect home is one where he can focus his attention on the people he loves. He's quite content being the star of the show and would be happy as an only dog, soaking up all the affection, lap time, and admiration he deserves. Ernie does take heart medication, which is easily managed with two pills a day. His ideal home includes a secure fenced yard, a cozy collection of blankets, and people who appreciate a dog with confidence, character, and a healthy sense of responsibility.

Every workplace needs a supervisor. Every home needs an Ernie.

Go to www.dibsrescue.com to fill out an application for Ernie. He'll be waiting.
