Enzo's Story

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT • RESCUE PLACEMENT • BREED-EDUCATED HOMES ONLY

Enzo is a 2-year-9-month-old male Cane Corso weighing approximately 120 pounds. He arrived at the shelter last December along with two other Cane Corsos after they were removed from a home situation. With that situation now resolved, we are now working to find the right placements for each of these dogs.

Enzo is a large, powerful male with the physical presence typical of the Cane Corso breed. He is confident and strong-willed, and like many mature guardian breeds, he takes time deciding who he trusts.

Once Enzo becomes comfortable with someone, his personality softens quickly and he shows a very different side — loyal, affectionate, and happy to be close to his people.

Enzo is naturally protective of the people he trusts, which is normal for the breed. Because of his size, strength, and guardian instincts, he will require an experienced home familiar with Cane Corsos or similar guardian breeds that can provide clear structure and leadership.

He has shown positive interest in female dogs and has been comfortable around them. Introductions with other dogs should always be done carefully due to his size and strength. His compatibility with cats is currently unknown.

Enzo tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently receiving treatment through the shelter.

During a recent veterinary exam, the veterinarian noted that Enzo occasionally moves in a way that may suggest a possible knee issue. Because of his size and strength, a full orthopedic evaluation will likely be performed while he is sedated for his neuter so that radiographs can be taken if needed.

Enzo will need to be neutered and microchipped prior to finalizing placement.

Cane Corsos are loyal, intelligent, and naturally protective dogs that require experienced ownership. Enzo will only be placed with homes experienced with Cane Corsos or similar guardian breeds.

Apply here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
