Emma's Story

The quiet ones are often the easiest to miss. I'm hoping you'll notice me.

Hi, I'm Emma! I'm a 5 year old, 50 pound girl, and I've been waiting at the shelter since April 2. While some dogs bark or bounce to get your attention, I quietly sit and hope you'll stop at my kennel.

Volunteer dog trainer Alyssa says, "Emma is the kind of dog who doesn't demand attention. She simply hopes for it."

When I first arrived, I was a little unsure of everything around me. I think I was confused about how I ended up here. Once I learned I was safe, my personality started to shine.

I'm friendly, affectionate, and happiest when I'm close to my people. I love snuggling, spending time with my dog friends, and every now and then letting loose with joyful zoomies that make everyone smile.

I'm also an easy girl to have around. I don't jump on people, I walk beautifully on a leash, and I'm never pushy. Whether we're exploring together or simply relaxing side by side, I'm happiest just being with you.

If you asked the staff to describe the perfect dog, my name would come up more than once. I'm wonderful with other dogs, gentle on a leash, and happy to match your pace. If you have a dog at home, I'd love to meet them. If I'm your one and only, I'll happily soak up all the love you have to give.

If you're looking for a calm, loyal companion, I hope you'll give me a chance. Sometimes the best dogs aren't the loudest ones. Sometimes they're the ones quietly waiting for someone to notice them.

Spayed and ready to go home with no geographical adoption restrictions.

Stafford County Animal Shelter
26 Frosty Lane, Stafford, VA 22554

Adoption Hours
Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Saturday, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Adoption Fee: $45

Please ask to meet me.
