Ember's Story
Ember – The Anti-Husky Husky

Quick Facts
Age: Approximately 1–2 years
Sex: Female
Breed: Husky
Spayed
Up to date on vaccinations
Heartworm negative

My Story
Ember came to the Oswego County SPCA as a transfer from the shelter after likely being dumped. Despite her rough start, she has shown nothing but sweetness from the moment she arrived. She recently took her freedom ride and is now settling in while we learn more about her.

Ember rides beautifully in the car and handles new situations with grace. During her veterinary visit for updated vaccines and bloodwork, she didn’t make a peep — instead, she offered kisses to the vet techs and calmly accepted her care. Moments like these have made it clear just how gentle and trusting she truly is.

She is currently being evaluated by our canine behaviorist partners at CNY Canine Academy so we can best understand her needs and set her up for success in her future home. So far, Ember is proving to be what we lovingly call an “anti-husky.” She is quiet, calm, and snuggly, and she seems happiest simply being near her people.

If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know
I am still early in my journey with the rescue, so some details about my training and preferences are still being assessed. What we do know is that I am a very loving, people-oriented girl who enjoys affection and human companionship. I handle new environments and routines with ease and show excellent manners during handling and veterinary care.

As we continue to learn more about me through professional evaluation, we’ll be able to provide additional guidance to help make sure I’m placed in the best possible home. If you’re looking for a husky with a softer, calmer energy who values connection over chaos, I may be the girl you’ve been waiting for.

Important Adoption Information and Next Steps:
All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are:
Spayed or neutered
Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations
Microchipped prior to adoption
Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate).
Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.
We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.
Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.

To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org
and complete our adoption application.

After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.

For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.

Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you do not hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
