MUST LIVE IN ROCHESTER, NY AREA TO ADOPT. Requires a physically fenced in yard as still learning to walk on leash.
MUST ADOPT BOTH! WILL NOT SEPARATE!

Elsie (age 4, gray on face, 17 lbs.) and Trixie (age 2, black on face, 10 lbs.) are extremely bonded young ladies who came to us from a New York State puppy mill. We are told they are shih tzu's but think they could have some other breed in them. Their foster mom and dad, who have fostered hundreds of dogs over the years, have never witnessed such a tight bond. This bond was also immediately apparent to our veterinarians and groomers who have met them, and they agree they should remain together. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN THINK OF ASKING US TO SEPARATE THEM!
Elsie and Trixie are very happy, tail wagging, wiggle butt, frisky girls. They have never displayed any aggression toward any humans or other dogs, and their foster home has MANY other dogs in variety of sizes and breeds. They have not been around any cats, so we don’t know how they would react to feline friends. Trixie is quicker to come to you and is the quieter one. She seems more trusting. Elsie is a bit uncertain of us humans, but she had to tolerate mill life longer. Elsie is also a bit more vocal, but neither is a nuisance barker by any means. Surprisingly, they do seem to enjoy playing with small, stuffed toys. Especially Elsie! She will choose one and carry it around almost as if it’s her baby. Dogs from mills often have no idea what toys are or what to do with them.
The trick to getting them to follow you inside or to get them secured in their playpen, etc., is to pick up Trixie and carry her. ELSIE WILL FOLLOW! She doesn’t want Trixie out of sight, and vice versa, but Trixie is easier to get hold of. Elsie is still a bit of a flight risk. They have not learned how to use the doggy door at their foster home yet, but if you open your door they will run out and enjoy frolicking in the fenced yard.
These girls ALWAYS sleep curled up together and seem to prefer their own “space” to do so, away from the other dogs in the home. They have a doggy playpen in their foster mom’s sewing room, and this is where they sleep on a soft dog bed with TV on for nightlight. They are also fed inside the playpen, so the others don’t steal their food. They are “grazers” and don’t gobble, so their bowl of kibble can be left for them to consume as they wish.
One thing’s for certain, if you want two dogs without worrying about them getting along as playmates, PROBLEM SOLVED! Here is the answer! And they don’t come any more adorable than Elsie and Trixie!

They will be going to their adoptive home under a foster to adopt contract until their spay is complete. You would be required to get them into our vet clinic for 7:30 am date TBD, in Rochester and then pick up (3 to 4 pm) from rescue to finalize adoption at that time. For this reason we will not adopt to anyone outside our immediate adoption area. If you would like to meet these adorable dogs an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication
