Elmo's Story
If sunshine could fit into a tiny puppy body, it would be Elmo.

This adorable Mini Poodle mix puppy is just 8 weeks old and already proving that obstacles are no match for her happy spirit. Elmo came to us from a commercial breeder after they noticed she was missing both of her back paws. She has full legs, but no paw pads on her rear feet. Whether this was caused by an injury early in life or a congenital deformity, we simply don't know. What we do know is that Elmo couldn't care less.

Despite her missing feet, Elmo gets around remarkably well and is completely unfazed by her difference. She walks, plays, explores, and tackles the world with the confidence of a puppy who has never been told she is supposed to be limited. Her joyful attitude is truly inspiring.

And beyond being resilient, Elmo is everything you could want in a puppy. She is social, affectionate, and absolutely loves everyone she meets. Dogs? Friends. Kids? Friends. New people? Future best friends. She greets life with a wagging tail and a happy heart.

Because Elmo is extremely tiny and delicate, we are looking for a home experienced with very small dogs that can help keep her safe as she grows. Due to her size, homes with children under 10 years old will not be considered. While she is doing wonderfully now, her adopters should understand that her unique condition may require future veterinary monitoring as she develops.

Elmo may be missing a couple of paws, but she certainly isn't missing any joy, confidence, or love. This special little girl is ready to find a family who sees her exactly as she sees herself: a perfectly happy puppy with a whole lot of living to do.

Elmo was also diagnosed with extreme sinus arrythmia. Per her vet exam, there are no signs or murmur. She should be monitored by her adopters regularly at check ups but this is not expected o change and there isn't treatment for it.

She will come with age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped. She is currently too little for a spay so will be adopted on a spay contract, so her family has to live close to our vet in Media or Pottstown.

Apply for adoption at www.phoenixanimalrescue.com
Adoption fee: $525

Phoenix Animal Rescue
Chester Springs, Pa
Kennel License #5152
