ELMER's Story

MEET ELMER…and his breed is definitely a mystery to us! This 7 lb, white/brown, 1 yr old precious baby was found near the recent Palmdale hoarding bust, where 16 dogs were confiscated. A good Samaritan picked him up, he had no ID, was intact, had a hernia, retained canines and was in awful condition. They quickly realized that this little guy had likely escaped from the property and was wandering off on his own. When you view his video, you can see how matted this poor baby was…not to mention the 50 foxtails we removed from his poor little body 🙁 He does have long hair and a “spotted cow belly” so we are thinking Maltese/Doxie/Shih Tzu? It will be a secret until his hair starts to grow back!

Despite all that, Elmer is pretty well adjusted. When he came, he didn’t walk on a leash, never wore a collar, still has a little difficulty navigating stairs, but now he is walking and enjoying the world like a champ! He is very smart and has been doing his business outside, but also on a pp pad — and he never misses! That being said, we never guarantee at your house! He squats to pee and is rambunctious as a pup should be! He LOVES toys and rearranging the room, staging pillows and beds where he wants them! Elmer is also pretty quiet — but he just arrived so he’s still letting us know who he is!

One thing we can tell you is Elmer LOVES other dogs and definitely should have one of his own! Because of his diminutive size, we would recommend small to medium and definitely a very gentle companion. Elmer is very affectionate and loves to hug you…gives sweet little kisses and lets you know how grateful he is to be out of the situation he was in. That being said, it hasn’t deterred him at all from being a special little man. Does he sound like a pup you’d like to make your best friend? Kids over 8 yr old welcome!
