Ellis's Story
Meet Ellis!

Ellis is a soulful Harrier-type hound with floppy ears, gentle eyes, and a sense of quiet loyalty. He came back into our care after his owner's health declined, and while life has changed a lot for him recently, Ellis is more than ready to find a calm, loving home where he can settle in, feel safe, and truly belong again.

Ellis may take a little time to warm up to new people and unfamiliar situations, but once he trusts you, his loving personality shines through in the sweetest ways. He's the kind of dog who chooses his person wholeheartedly; happily following you from room to room, curling up beside you on the couch, or stretching out next to you after a peaceful morning walk. His foster describes him as incredibly cuddly, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever you're doing. Like any true hound, Ellis experiences the world nose-first. Walks are one of his absolute favorite things, and he could happily spend ages sniffing every leaf, sidewalk crack, and patch of grass along the way. He enjoys several walks a day and has even joined his foster on longer hikes, taking everything in at his own thoughtful pace. A steady routine and quiet environment help him feel relaxed and confident.

Ellis also has a goofy, playful side that appears once he's comfortable. Stuffed toys don't stand much of a chance around him and he takes great pride in "slaying" squeaky toys and pulling out every last bit of fluff with impressive determination. It's impossible not to smile watching him fully embrace his silly hound instincts. At the end of the day, Ellis is simply looking for someone patient and kind who understands sensitive dogs and will let him settle in at his own speed. In return, he'll offer unwavering companionship, gentle affection, dedicated devotion. If you're looking for a loyal shadow, a snuggly couch companion, and a sweet dog to share life's quieter moments with, Ellis may just be your new best friend.

Deeply loyal and affectionate once comfortable
Loves long sniffy walks and exploring the world nose-first
Big fan of cuddles, cozy routines, and stuffed toys
Prefers calm, predictable, low-traffic environments
Likely happiest as the only pet in the home

Dogs: Ellis is seeking a home without other dogs.
Cats: Ellis is seeking a home without cats.
Children: Ellis may thrive in a home with teenagers and adults.

Ready to adopt your new best friend?
Submit an adoption application today!
