Ellie--Adoption Pending's Story
Meet Ellie, a sweet 5-year-old dachshund with a big personality, joyful spirit, and so much love to give. She adores people, lights up at the sound of a squeaky toy, and has a special way of making everyone smile. Ellie came to Nebraska Dachshund Rescue after developing IVDD-related paralysis in her back legs, but while her mobility has changed, her love for life has not.

Ellie does need her bladder expressed, but this is a skill that can be learned with guidance and practice. Around the house, she scoots with impressive speed like a tiny tornado and uses a drag bag to stay comfortable as she moves. She has received acupuncture and daily laser therapy, and although she has not shown much improvement yet, Ellie remains happy, affectionate, and eager to enjoy every day. She loves being outside, gets excited for treats, and gives kisses galore.

Ellie will need a wheelchair for walks, outdoor adventures, and backyard romps, and one will be provided with her adoption. Most of all, she needs a patient, loving home that will see beyond her special needs and recognize the wonderful companion she already is. If you are looking for a loyal little dog with courage, charm, and endless love, Ellie may be the perfect girl for you.

All our dogs are current on vaccinations which include Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella. They are spayed and or neutered, have been fecal tested and heartworm tested, and had a dental cleaning if necessary. They are all on heartworm and flea/tick preventative as needed in rescue. They all will have a microchip that will be registered in the adopter's name and is good for a lifetime with no additional fees.

The adoption process is an application, a vet reference, a home inspection, and a lifetime contract. The requested adoption donation for all our dogs is $400.

We do not REQUIRE a fenced in yard (some dogs do not require a fence, if they can walk well on harness and leash. This is decided by what is best for each dog individually.)

We are willing to adopt to out-of-state applicants, but you must travel to the foster home location of your dog which is in Omaha or within a 90-minute drive from the Omaha area to meet and travel home with your dog. We do not transport or ship dogs.

If you are interested in adding this beautiful baby to your loving family, please visit our website and fill out an adoption application at http://www.nebraskadachshundrescue.org/adoptapp.htm
The adoption fee is $400.
