Elijah - K26975 Mixed Breed Park City, UT

Meet Elijah! Prepare to be amazed by this incredible guy's story. At approximately 6 years old, Elijah found his way into our care with a tale that truly tugs at the heartstrings. Hitching a ride, despite lacking thumbs, with a kind truck driver passing through the Navajo Nation, Elijah's journey took an unexpected turn. The observant driver noticed a potential tumor on Elijah and sought help at our Animal Care Center in Kayenta, AZ. We swiftly welcomed this gentle soul into our care, and our dedicated Vet Team went to work. Discovering a giant tumor, likely a result of being un-neutered, they skillfully removed it, confirming it was benign. Elijah, a true gem of the desert, is now ready and available for adoption! Elijah recently went on a Holiday Sleepover and the family had nothing but great things to say about him: "My one daughter described him as "nothing but love and muscle" and my other named him Double Stuff Oreo.


He is such a sweet boy. I think he'd be a wonderful family dog. He's definitely potty trained, which is huge. He loves to be around you, but isn't intrusive in any way. He's curious about what you are doing, likes to be in the same room with you, but unless you are on the ground playing with him, he's just a sweet pleasant shadow, never annoying. He didn't chew on anything, in fact, didn't really care for toys either. I think his favorite thing was snuggles at night and walks. He is great on a leash (taught him to sit so you can put on the leash after only two walks). His ears flutter like butterflies when he walks- it's so adorable! The only thing I noticed to be cautious of on walks is if he catches/sees an animal like a squirrel or rabbit, he is a bit stubborn and wants to go after it, so some prey drive. There's definitely some tugging that happened to keep going, and he is strong. He's not a barker. I didn't hear one bark the entire time he was with me. He had a low growl I heard when he saw Elk, but no barking. As far as seeing other dogs, he did not bark, pull or lunge at them, he was quite indifferent. He loves the snow, and loves to get on top of rocks... His paws are so cute! When we played, he was very gentle with his "bite." He never bit down, just mouthy when playing with me. He's a great eater, and you can touch him when he's eating and he doesn't even notice. He is VERY treat oriented and I think would be very easy to train. He was good about staying on his blanket when on the couch, or on his bed when directed there. He was great in his crate at night as well. Loves the car rides too, just lays down in a ball. Also, we had 10 family members come into the home, (all within 30 min) and he was GREAT! Tail wagging and just happy to see people. Ages 6-75. An 8 year old and him became quick friends. He looks tough, but he has tons of kisses to give and lots of love to keep you warm. A family looking for a pup that's low maintenance and easy to train, he's your boy! He really loves human attention. He's super happy when you come in the door. My family fell in love with him!"
