Eileen's Story

Eileen entered Downey Shelter as a stray, and sadly, she wasn't claimed. She is estimated to be 12 years old and weighs 77 lbs. While Eileen came to the shelter as a stray, it's clear that she was once a much-loved pet. She is a very sweet, gentle girl who enjoys pets and snuggles. She loves going for walks and playing fetch and gives kisses to say "thank you!" for spending time with her. Be sure to watch the video of Eileen demonstrating SIT, DOWN, and STAY - she's a very quick learner!

Eileen has been on two Frosted Flings, and we have learned that she is very well-behaved in a home. She is potty-trained, crate-trained, and can be trusted when home alone to not be destructive. Here's more from her most recent foster family:

"Eileen's personality is a joy. She is always in a good mood, ready to take a walk, and fun to have in the house. She gets very excited sometimes, and even got the zoomies one night, running back and forth for several minutes. But this is rare, as most of the time she wants to be on the couch with you, or at least nearby, and she likes belly rubs and head scratches.

Eileen needs to gain a little weight, so to help, I fed her three meals a day, 2 cups each time She will try to steal your food off your plate if you leave it unguarded and at her level - guess how I found that out!

If we come across another dog while on a walk, Eileen does react . She will listen to a very stern "Sit", and once she sits, I give her a lot of attention and try to redirect her gaze, and this usually helps. I do think she is better than when I first got her in this regard, and with more exposure and the right incentives, this will continue to improve. That aside, Eileen is an amazing and active dog. She acts much younger than 12 years old!"

To meet this beautiful and loving girl, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
