Dutch's Story

This loving, goofy, playful boy is back at HHDR. He was just a little tot when we first had him 3 years ago. Through no fault of his own, his dad’s new girlfriend has a cat that doesn’t like Dutch, even though Dutch has lived with cats before, he was surrendered.

Dutch is kind of a derp. He’s clumsy, has a funny way of getting off the bed, does zoomies after he potties, has a major love of sticks, slobbers after drinking water and thinks he’s a lap dog. But this kid has a heart of gold!

Dutch is loyal, affectionate, super friendly, knows basic commands, enjoys walks and going to the park, is crate trained and housebroken.

He’s good with other dogs and cats. If your kid doesn’t mind being slobbered on, he’s good with them too.

Dutch is 3 1/2 years old, roughly 65 lbs, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. You are going to love this goober, trust us!

Dutch is in a temporary foster home, but he does need to be moved as quickly as possible. Whether that be a new foster home or a forever home. We also offer foster to adopt and provide all supplies.

Happy Hearts Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
1. Adopters fill out an Adoption Application. 2. HHDR will review the Application, check your references and speak with your Vet. NOTE: Adoption Application approval times vary, but we strive to approve applications with 72 hours. 3. Once your Application is approved, we’ll set up a meet ‘n’ greet and a home check (Post COVID-19: Home checks are performed virtually). 4. If the meet n greet goes well, then your potential new furry family member will come over for a play date. 5. Adoptions will require a three day trial visit before finalizing. 6. If all goes well and your adoption is approved, we will send you an Adoption Agreement for your review. 7. You’ll sign and return a copy of the Adoption Agreement along with the adoption fees. Your Adoption Agreement will include a customized list of the any remaining vaccinations and spay/neuter needed along with the time table in which you are required to get them. Once everything is in place, your new dog’s foster family will coordinate with you to get your new family member! * We do require all dogs in the Adopter/Foster’s home to be up to date on vaccines, current on heartworm prevention, and must be fixed. ** You must provide proof of heartworm preventative being purchased within the past 6 months to one year. We will not adopt to a home that can not provide proof their dogs takes monthly heartworm prevention. *** Young puppies that are not fully vaccinated must remain “paws off the ground” in public places (apartment complexes, dog parks, neighborhood walks) until 7 days after their final round of vaccines. **** If a dog is not fully vaccinated and they have not been fixed yet, HHDR will only allow a local adoption.
