Meet Dusty

Dusty is a 7 year old Bichon Frise trying to find a new place to call home. He was an ESA for his dad until life threw a mean curveball their way. As you can imagine, losing your dad and your home is devastating - so it takes Dusty a little bit to trust and feel safe. During the first few days, he needs you to respect his boundaries, simply by ignoring him (except for food/water and potty breaks). Once he feels safe he will literally beg for love! He turns into a brand new dog and most of the time he wants to cuddle on top of you, which is okay because he's only 16 pounds.

One of Dusty's favorite activities is being outside where he can sunbathe. He's done great with dogs of all sizes. He is potty trained, has great leash manners, and is good in the car. Dusty will need a home with a fence; when he's getting used to his people, leashing him can be challenging, and having a fenced yard and being able to just open the door for him will make him feel safe and comfortable.

Dusty can be quite vocal when he wants attention, so he'll need a home with no shared walls. He despises the crate, so he requests an owner who won't make him use one. The good news is, he doesn't need to be crated because he's such a good boy! Due to Dusty's stranger danger, he needs a home with no kids.

**Dusty has had some loss in his life and it can take him some time to adjust to new people, so any interested adopter will need to be in the Bloomington-Normal, IL area and be willing to "foster-to-adopt" to make sure that Dusty's new home is a good fit.

If you have the love and patience to allow Dusty a little time to adjust - you'll be rewarded with a lifetime of love in return. He truly is a sweetheart - he just needs a little time to trust new people.

His minimum adoption fee is $275 plus a $12 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.

To be considered for adoption, you must first submit the application found at:
