Durango's Story
Meet this curious, cuddly, food‑motivated explorer who’s ready to find his perfect match. He’s a dog with a big heart, a sharp nose, and a strong opinion about certain things—like cats. He’ll happily tell you that felines, seagulls, ducks, and geese are not his friends, and he’ll chase them if given the chance.

On walks, he’s a joy: he moves nicely on leash, navigates calmly around people, and loves to pause to take in the world around him. He’s a dedicated “pee‑mail” correspondent and will thoughtfully mark every tree, post, and tall blade of grass in new places. His curiosity is one of his most charming traits.

He can be easily distracted by other reactive dogs and is selective about his canine friendships, so slow introductions and respectful boundaries are key. Daily mental enrichment will help him feel grounded and reduce stress—he’s the kind of dog who thrives when his brain gets a workout.

At home, he’s a total sweetheart. He loves cuddles, attention, and snacks—he considers himself a professional taste tester. Grooming is another favorite pastime; he enjoyed being bathed, though he’s still deciding how he feels about running water and blow dryers.

He’s not a jumper, but with a little food motivation he climbed right into the vehicle and traveled beautifully on a short outing. This boy is equal parts snuggly companion and curious adventurer, and he’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and love to the right home.

Regular adoption fee for dogs is $300; if the dog is too young for spay/neuter prior to adoption then a $300 post dated spay/neuter deposit cheque (OR PAD form) is also required - we don't cash this cheque but hold it until cheque date and proof of S/N surgery provided by the date on the cheque - typically when the pup is 6 months of age. Occasionally we adopt out particular animals at fundraising prices to help offset our vet bills, each fundraiser dog will be posted as such with the adoption fee noted. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter and rabies ONLY if surgery is done with our Meadow Lake vet; otherwise adopters are responsible to pay those fees at their own vets.

Use our online application form found at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Q1Xw1ArXT3owIBuG8O25Ioqmx1_NWGgi9eXIhOO_0dg/edit?pli=1

Also Join us online at - www.facebook.com/mldhs
We upload our pet's video clips to www.youtube.com/mldhs1 - search there by name of the animal that interests you; you may often find more than one clip.
