We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is working with the City of Hamilton and the Hico Police Department to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound or the Hico Animal Shelter. We are in Texas, and we transport our dogs North because Texas is overflowing with unwanted dogs.<br/>All of our dogs are vaccinated and on preventatives. This striking boy, around 6 months old, ~16lbs., boasts a sleek black coat accented by a touch of white on his chest. Despite a rough start, Duke is now in good health, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative, ready to embrace a bright future.<br/><br/>Duke is good with other dogs, but what he truly longs for is a strong bond with his person. Found on the streets with cactus needles and fleas, it's clear Duke hasn't had an easy beginning. Understandably, he's a bit scared in the shelter environment and is waiting for someone special to help him blossom. We believe Duke may have been separated from his original pack too soon and is yearning for the security and love of his own human.<br/><br/>This happy pup loves to zoom and explore! He's got that youthful energy and enjoys a good run. He's also a bit of a playful shadow, sometimes getting a little close for comfort (watch your feet!). He's a bit of a trip hazard. While leash training is still in progress, (he's currently very chaotic), Duke does have some recall to his name, showing his intelligence and willingness to learn. <br/><br/>Duke is a sweet soul who deserves a patient and loving home where he can feel safe and build a strong connection. With gentle guidance and positive reinforcement, we know Duke will become the loyal and devoted companion he's meant to be.
