Duke L.'s Story
SHY AT FIRST, LOYAL FOREVER

Hi everyone! My name is Duke.

If you're looking for a loyal best friend with a gentle heart and a goofy side, I might just be your guy.

Ill be honest new people and new situations can make me a little nervous at first. When I first arrived in my foster home, I wasn't sure about humans and preferred to keep my distance. But with patience, kindness, and time, I've made incredible progress. These days, I greet my foster mom every morning with tail wags and wiggles, and I even give her hand kisses and forehead kisses when she's crouched down.

I currently live in a foster home with other dogs, and they are one of my favorite things in the world. I absolutely love having canine friends around and would do best with a confident, gentle dog who can show me the ropes and help me continue building confidence. Having a dog buddy makes me feel safe and helps me navigate new experiences.

I'm house-trained, use the doggy door like a pro, and can be left home alone without any trouble. I enjoy spending time both indoors and outdoors, and I especially love hanging out with my dog friends. I have a playful side too! Give me a toy, a chew, or a kiddie pool after it rains, and I'm one happy boy. Sometimes Ill even take myself outside for a little zoomie session before coming back to relax.

While I can be shy with people, I'm never aggressive. I simply need a family that understands I may take a little extra time to trust. Once I feel comfortable, my goofy personality starts to shine. My foster mom says one of her favorite things is watching me play peekaboo through the doggy door and seeing how proud I am when I come over for kisses.

I'm not a high-energy dog, but I do enjoy exploring the yard, playing with my friends, and lounging nearby while life happens around me. Loud noises, storms, and fireworks don't bother me much, and I'm respectful in the home.

What I need most is a patient family willing to let me move at my own pace, celebrate my progress, and love me for the wonderful dog I am. In return, you'll get a sweet, curious, goofy companion whose trust is truly something special.

Could you be the family I've been waiting for?
