Duke Daniels's Story
Duke Daniels was born in January 2026 and is a 23-pound Boston Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier mix currently living through the deeply important intellectual period of puppyhood where everybody is hot, everything is fascinating, and consequences feel largely theoretical.

Duke is wildly social. Dogs? Absolutely. Cats? Incredible concept. Kids? Wonderful. People? Oh, we're so back. He approaches new acquaintances with the delighted incredulity of someone who cannot believe the universe has once again produced another person specifically for Duke Daniels.

And honestly, he's been SUCH a great boy. He hasn't had any accidents inside, does great in his crate while his foster family is away, and has been wonderful with kids. For still being a puppy, he really is the best.

He loves playing, cuddling, following his humans around, and generally being woven into the household like a small, muscular rumor. Tennis balls are a particular favorite-especially the squeaky ones. Give Duke a squeaky tennis ball and whatever else was happening that day is officially canceled.

His other great weakness is the belly rub. Present an available hand and Duke will rotate onto his back with NASCAR-grade urgency. Dignity leaves the premises. Legs go akimbo. Eyes become devotional. Whatever plans existed before this moment have been absolutely ratioed by tummy.

Duke is still very much a puppy and being assembled in real time. He's smart, eager to please, and learning quickly, while occasionally producing choices so avant-garde they cannot yet be evaluated by conventional ethics. This is puppyhood. The frontal lobe is on pre-order.

He's up to date on vaccines and preventatives and is neutered. And at just 23 pounds, Duke is wonderfully compact, although nobody has informed his personality of the spatial limitations.

Also, Duke Daniels is an objectively insane name for this animal. It sounds like a man who arrives by helicopter to settle a family dispute.

Look at the actual product.

Twenty-three pounds. Friends with dogs and cats. Great with kids. No accidents in the house. Great in his crate. Squeaky tennis ball enthusiast. Upside down. No thoughts. Awaiting belly.

An astonishing collapse of the aristocracy.
PLEASE READ BELOW:

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application.
*An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application*
All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.
For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.

***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
