Duke - Bonded Pair with Lulu's Story
BONDED PAIR WITH LULU! PLEASE SEE LISTING FOR LULU!
LULU AND DUKE MAY POTENTIALLY BE ADOPTED SEPARATELY, BUT IT IS PREFERRED THAT THEY ARE ADOPTED TOGETHER!

Duke and Lulu are a bonded pair who came into rescue following the death of their owner and loss of their home. As expected after all the changes in their environment and family dynamic the past six months, they seek lots of attention. Both are affectionate, playful and eager to please and would do well in a structured environment with humans who can give them the time and attention they need.

Duke seems to be the strong silent type sitting back observing and taking his cues from Lulu. He warms up right away, while she needs a little time to get comfortable with new people.

Both travel in the car extremely well, are crate trained, and have lived peacefully with several inside/outside cats. Their roommates/caretakers report they have high prey drive and do not like Chihuahuas. As far as exposure to children, they have only encountered a 12YO nephew a few times.

They both listen considerably well, but could use general manners reinforcement and leash work.

If youre looking to add a pair of loveable, entertaining, in-your-face Danes to your family, then these two are for you! Stay tuned for updates.

DUKE & LULU - UPDATE FEB26
Duke (4yearold male) and Lulu (3yearold female) are a loving, playful pair who have been thriving in their foster home for nearly two months. Both are affectionate, peopleoriented, and enjoy spending time together—whether playing, lounging, or keeping an eye on the world from the front window.
Lulu is the more mischievous of the two and loves to play, shred toys, and cuddle close, while Duke is laid back and happy to soak up attention with his head in your lap. They share a sweet bond and often nap curled up together, though they can also amuse you with their siblinglike bickering.
While it would be wonderful for them to stay together, they could be adopted separately into homes with another dog and/or plenty of people to give them the love and attention they enjoy.

DUKE UPDATE JULY 2026

Update from Duke's current foster home (affectionately known as Ducky):
The second Duck came into foster here he has been nothing short of a gentleman. He has never met a human that he doesn't immediately love and demand pets from. He spent many days before his heartworm treatment began with the resident dogs there and learning how to play and how to just be a dog. He's also figuring out how to play with toys

He's incredibly sweet, goofy and is honestly just happy to be here. He is crate trained, housebroken, doesn't jump, doesn't lick people, rarely barks, and he's been working on his obedience. He knows sit, down, wait (at doorways before walks), come and is working on stay and leave it. He is pretty good on a leash and has learned to walk with a Halti.

Due to activity restriction during his treatment he was limited to very short walks in the yard. We will be resuming longer walks & reinforcing leash manners. He is VERY food motivated so he'll do just about anything for some freeze dried liver or cheese. He's also the least drooly Dane I've ever met!

Duck is the epitome of a velcro dog and just the sweetest boy ever! Now that he has completed his heartworm treatment, he is ready for his forever home!

His likes consist of:
Being touched all the time if possible
Other dogs to cuddle and play with (medium-XL)
Couches / Beds
Bully sticks
Kongs
Sunbathing

His dislikes:
Thunderstorms (he appreciates a good thunder buddy)
Groundhogs

For more information on this dog and our adoption policies, visit MAGDRL at https://www.magdrl.org.
