Duke's Story

Duke is our handsome, senior Blue Tick Hound that is still with us; we have had him for a year and a half. He has all of the endearing hound traits.....kind, gentle, a bit noisy, but, more subdued now, as he is a little older. He is sweet and rather silly and we love him so much! Please read about the breed. Duke used to be able to get over our of our 5-6 foot dog park fence; we have not given him the chance to try again. He came to us at 58 pounds now he is 74...pleasantly plump. He will chase a ball once, then carry it around and may drop it to get a treat! He does walk on a leash, is strong though. He is not a hunting dog, we believe he has only been a pet and that is what he deserves now in his senior years, a couch, a secure yard with grass to roll in and companionship. He will be a wonderful dog for the right person and home setting. He is all about exploring and will go in search of fun! Great nose and will search for goodies that are left out. He would probably not do well with smaller pets due to his breeding.
