Duke's Story

Hi world, I'm Duke! I’m an 8-year-old, 34 lb Beagle with a sweet heart and a goofy personality. My friend Rex and I used to belong to a sweet lady whom I loved very much. When she passed away, my world changed, and now I’m hoping to find another forever person to love just as much.

I’ll be honest, I can be a little shy when we first meet. Big noises like thunderstorms and gunshots really scare me, and lots of commotion makes me nervous. That’s why I’m not much of a hunting dog… I’m more of a cozy couch, squeaky toy, and peaceful walk kind of guy.

The good news? I’m fully house trained (because manners matter), I’ve gone to doggy daycare and done well with other pups, and I even lived with a cat before. I know how to be part of a home...I just need one again.

I love squeaky toys. Seriously. If it squeaks, it’s mine. I’ll even play fetch and bring it back like a champ. And once I feel safe? That’s when my silly side comes out. I’ll make you laugh with my beagle antics and give you the sweetest, softest looks you’ve ever seen.

I was previously posted as a bonded pair with Rex, but after reassessment from sanctuary staff, I can be adopted solo because sometimes Rex is a little too spunky for me when I try to play with him.

I’d do best in a calm home without children, who are just a little too unpredictable for me. I need someone patient, kind, and willing to let me open up at my own pace, either solo or with another dog in the home for me to play with. I promise there’s a whole lot of love (and a little goofball energy) waiting inside me.

I am up-to-date on vaccines, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

The cost to adopt is $250 and the adoption process begins with an Adoption Application that is located at: www.faithfulfriendsnc.org/adopt

Once your completed application has been reviewed the humans will contact you with questions and/or set an appointment for you to meet me. Thank you! Please read all guidelines before sending in an application. Do not reach out to the sanctuary about the status of your application, we will contact you if we are interested in setting up an appointment.
