Duke's Story
Meet Duke!

Duke is a 4-year-old surrendered Akita with a big heart and playful personality. After overcoming surgery to remove a collar that had become stuck around his neck, he has fully recovered and is now healthy, happy, and ready for his fresh start.

Despite everything he's been through, Duke is affectionate, resilient, and full of life. He loves to play and brings joyful energy wherever he goes. Duke can get excited and doesn't always realize his size, so he would do best in a home without small children, though he could do well with older kids or teens who can handle his enthusiasm.

Duke is looking for a loving home where he can continue to thrive and be part of the family. If you're looking for a loyal, cheerful companion ready for his next chapter, Duke could be your perfect match.

We welcome all applicants, though prior experience with Akitas or dogs in general is considered a plus!

Do you think you could be Duke's person? Here is how to find out:

1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or
2.)Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!
