Duchess's Story

Meet Duchess — 6-Month-Old Daniff Puppy

Looking for a giant, goofy, floppy puppy who thinks she belongs directly in your lap? Meet **Duchess!**

Duchess is a 6-month-old **Daniff (Great Dane/Mastiff mix)** with the best traits of both breeds. Shell give you the classic Great Dane lean...and then take it one step further and plop her entire body right on top of you like the oversized Mastiff lap dog she believes she is.

This sweet girl is incredibly affectionate, loyal, and people-oriented. She bonds quickly with her person and wants nothing more than to be wherever you are. Couch? Shes cuddling with you. Bed? Make room. Working from home? Shell happily settle on a dog bed next to your desk and entertain herself with her toys.

Duchess has even gone to work and did wonderfully! She calmly hung out by the desk, played with her toys, and was sweet and friendly when meeting clients.

**A little more about Duchess:**
6 months old
Great Dane/Mastiff mix (Daniff)
Sweet, affectionate and cuddly
Goofy, playful puppy personality
Walks nicely on leash
Does well in the car
Good for bath time
Friendly and passive with people
Large-dog friendly with slow, structured introductions
Crate time helps her decompress and adjust to new dogs
Loves toys and being close to her person
Loyal and bonds quickly

Because Duchess is still a giant puppy, she is very much in her **puppy mouthing phase**. Shes learning, but those big puppy paws and that goofy mouth can be a lot for little kids, so we are looking for a home with **children 12 and older**.

With other dogs, Duchess does best when she is given a few days to settle in and introductions are done slowly. Once she feels comfortable, she does wonderfully with large-breed dogs.

Duchess is still just a baby with so much love to give. She needs someone who understands that puppies require patience, consistency, structure, and continued training. In return, youre going to get one incredibly devoted best friend.

If your dream dog is a **giant velvety cuddlebug who will follow you everywhere, lean against you, sit on you, sleep beside you and make you laugh every single day**, Duchess might be your girl.

Shes ready to stop being someones unwanted puppy and start being someones **forever Duchess.**

Healing Hounds Rescue's Adoption Policy
I have them fill out my foster/adoption contract and after receiving I call to vet them and understand their abilities and the type of dog they would like. We have a good hour long convo of everything from slow introductions, training, positive reinforcement, needs of the dog, and the adopters expectations. I either do a home check or ask for pictures of where the dog would be staying, sleeping, eating. Then we plan a meet and greet with adopter and adopters other animals or family members to see how the dog reacts. I want to set up my rescues for success and make sure it's a good fit for everyone.
