Doug Chihuahua Mix Palatine, IL

NOTE: Doug and Paulie are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

Hey there! My name is Doug and I am a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix. I came up from Alabama with my brother Paulie, so we’d like to stay together. To be honest, we just aren’t the same when we are apart. We sleep together in the crate at night and are well-behaved in there during the day if you put us together. Try to separate us into different crates and my brother will start barking his head off! We went through a hoarding situation in the past, but having each other always gives us comfort. 

We are both pretty mild-mannered and can be a little shy at first. But this shyness doesn’t mean we don’t want attention. As long as you are patient and calm, we will quickly open up and give you all our love. We both love to snuggle, and at 10 pounds each, we could both squeeze into your lap for a good cuddle session! If you’re not in the mood, then you can find me snuggled in my own blanket nest. 

Paulie and I are both doing well with house training, but are still trying to figure out how to give signals when we need to go. We are also learning to get over our hatred of wet grass and how to walk better on a leash. We love chew toys (and enjoy playing fetch as well) and will stick to just chewing on those. Both of us are fine with small dogs and we mostly ignore cats (though Paulie sometimes makes them run a little!). A fenced-in yard would be great as long as it is secured— we enjoy a good squirrel chase or two!

Well, I think that’s about all I have to discuss. Paulie and I may have each other, but we still need someone who will take us in and love us both. We promise we will doubly return the love. If you think you could provide us a home, please fill out an application today!
