Dottie's Story

Dottie came to us as part of an accidental litter of 8 born June 2025. Her mom is a cattle dog mix and the dad is likely to be a rottie mix. Dottie is sweet and loving, she plays with her brother but really likes hanging out with people. She seems ok with cats and other dogs. She will be a great addition to any family. She really would love to go Home for the Holidays!

All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org

When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition.

Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed.

If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only.

If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

New River Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
***Due to the high volume of inquires we receive daily, questions about specific cats and dogs will only be answered once we have an application on file*** To start the adoption process, please go to our website nrhswv.com under the forms tab to submit an application. Applications are processed as quickly as possible. Please understand we have a small staff and applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Typical adoption fees for all animals are as follows. **Adoption fees for purebred, small breed, designer or high demand pets are subject to higher rates and are determined by management.** Puppies (1 year old and younger): $150 Dogs (older than 1 year): $125 Kittens (6 months old and younger): $100 Cats (older than 6 months): $100 Adoptions include age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter and rabies vaccination. If at the time of adoption the animal is too young to be altered, a voucher will be issued that is to be used at a participating vet office when old enough. An additional deposit of $50 is required if the animal is not altered at the time of adoption, but the deposit is returned once we receive proof the procedure was completed within the specified timeframe.
