She is looking for a family who understands about giving a shy dog plenty of space and choice in when and whether to interact, to develop trust without pressure. <br/> <br/>Age: 2 years (veterinary estimate)<br/> <br/>Size: 26 pounds<br/> <br/>Temperament: Dolly is sweet, playful and shy. When she is comfortable with someone, she is affectionate and loves to cuddle.<br/> <br/>Fence: A secure physical fence with direct access from the house is required, as we do not know how Dolly was originally lost, and she is not comfortable with a leash at this time. She loves to run around the fenced yard.<br/> <br/>Dogs: Dolly is good with other dogs, and needs the security of a canine role model. She loves to play with the other dog in her foster home and with the neighbor dogs.<br/> <br/>Cats: Unknown. No cat in her foster home. <br/> <br/>Kids: Due to shyness Dolly needs an adult home without children. <br/> <br/>Crate Use: Dolly has free run of her foster home but will go into her crate when asked. She hopes her person will enjoy Dolly’s company in bed!<br/> <br/>Housetrained: Yes.<br/> <br/>Responds to Cues: Dolly responds to her name and is learning to sit. She is food motivated and loves treats when learning new skills! <br/> <br/>Leash Walks: Dolly is afraid of cars and bicyclists and is not currently comfortable leash walking beyond her foster home yard. She will need lots of practice in her fenced yard for several weeks before it will be safe to try a walk, and her person will need to understand how to keep Dolly safe if she is frightened by a car or bike. <br/> <br/>Car Rides: Dolly rides well in a crate in the car for her safety.<br/> <br/>Activity Level: Medium. Dolly loves to play and will also settle with her family. <br/> <br/>Barking: Dolly will bark when excited and to alert her foster mom when she hears strange noises, the doorbell rings, or visitors come.<br/> <br/>Health: No known health issues upon veterinary examination and evaluation. <br/> <br/>Experienced Home: Dolly will blossom with someone experienced in allowing the dog to set the pace for interaction and building trust, and who understands the precautions needed to keep a shy dog safe. <br/> <br/>Dolly will need a secure fenced area and careful, diligent humans for her safety.
