Dolly's Story

GOOD GOLLY MISS DOLLY is the total teenage puppy package! This curly girl is playful, curious, smart, and always ready to see what kind of adventure the day has in store. Whether she's proudly carrying around a toy, investigating every smell in the yard, or finally deciding it's time to curl up after a busy day, Dolly keeps life fun. If she sounds like a girl who could rock your world, please continue reading about her below.

HISTORY
Dolly came to her foster mom privately after her previous home was no longer able to keep her. She spent a lot of time outdoors alone and wasn't kept on a consistent diet. She came to us with a UTI and some funky skin, both of which have been treated.

Dolly's DOB is listed as 09/23/2025. She has settled beautifully into her foster home. Dolly is fostered in Walla Walla, WA.

SOCIALIZATION
Dolly is a happy, curious girl who enjoys being part of daily life and settles in quickly once she feels comfortable. She is very much still a puppy mentally and likes to stay busy: exploring, sniffing, and carrying toys around when she's loose in the house. She does well entertaining herself and sticks mostly to appropriate toys, with no guarding behaviors noted.

Based on her temperament, she would likely do best with respectful older elementary-aged children or older, and she appears to enjoy other dogs with compatible energy. She plays and engages well with the resident dog in the home.

TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR
Dolly is a fun, active young dog with a very typical puppy energy level for her age. She enjoys staying engaged but does not need to be over-exercised to be well-mannered in the home. While she may not always "turn off" on her own, she settles beautifully when given structure, whether crated, leashed nearby, or included calmly in daily household activity.

She is smart, observant, and thrives when she has clear expectations and is included in everyday life. Because she is still young and curious, she should not be left unsupervised for long periods, as she will find ways to entertain herself.

Dolly has shown some prey drive, so caution is recommended around small animals, as she has not been formally tested.

TRAINING
Her foster mom has been actively working on her basic training inside the home and outdoors, so she has a solid foundation in structure, manners, and settling skills. She does well with routine, crates nicely, and continues to improve with consistency in the home. She is still young and learning, but she is very responsive and eager to understand expectations.

Dolly walks beautifully on leash and is eager to please her handler. She also has reliable manners such as crate training, sit, down, stay, and more under her belt. Because of how smart and driven to please her humans she is, we believe that she would be best in a home that is going to challenge her brain. She would thoroughly enjoy agility, continuation of obedience, possibly even having a real job! This girl was born to use her brain, and never got the chance until her foster mom stepped into her life.

HEALTH
Dolly is a poodle mix whose DOB is listed as 09/23/2025. She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites. Veterinary records will be provided at adoption.

ADOPTION
Dolly's adoption fee is $425. For more pictures and updates about her, see her album on our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=HearthfireAnimalRescueTeam&set=a.1290457003235386

Please note that HART does not have a facility. Our dogs live in foster homes and are not available to meet potential adopters until after their adoption application has been approved.

If you are interested in adopting Dolly, please complete an application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA/Dog. Please note that the process usually takes about one week to complete.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
