Doc Holiday's Story
Hello I’m Doc, Doc Holiday.

I’m a 3-month-old mix and speculation is that I'm a Dane/Mastiff mix. I was rescued a month ago food deprived, locked in a kennel and abandoned by humans I thought were going to love me. I was rescued from this awful situation by a few phone calls and some amazing humans.

My rescue family has shown me how great it feels to be loved, to not worry about a meal, and to feel safe and played with every day.

In my short time with my rescue family, I have grown from a mere 10 pounds to 21 pounds now. I’m no longer skin and bones. I eat in my kennel with the other dogs nearby and they watch me eat to make sure I finish my food. I was so frail that I needed sweaters to help maintain my body temperature. I have grown so much that a lot of my sweaters that kind people sent to me are getting small now!

I get play with the resident dogs, and they are so patient with me and understand I’m just a puppy that’s happy to be with them. I even get to play with cats, and we talk to each other outside. I like sitting in the sun and getting my potty breaks. I let my rescue family know with my soft whine that I need a bathroom break. I’m not perfect yet but I’m getting there.

I have found out that I love snuggling with humans. I will rest in your lap while you watch some tv and will cuddle with you in the warm bed in the morning before we start our fun day together. I know one day I will be bigger, and I probably won’t be able to fit my whole body on your lap, but I’ll be happy resting my head on your lap. I’m doing ok with my alone time outside. I’ve even caught my rescue family watching me through a window while I play with my Kong or my squeaky yard toys and laugh at me when I get the zoomies.

I’m learning about leashes. They mean we are going to have some fun! You lead me and bite it and pull back. I will be a pro at leash walking before too long. I like car rides too. I love, love, love meeting new people because everyone I meet wants to pet me. Everyone I meet calls me something different, so I have lots of nicknames. My ears are my attention magnet. They are so big, and I'm told that they never seem to be in the same position twice.

I’m ready for my forever family that will allow me to love them unconditionally, and to be a part of their family. I’m still young and will give you so much happiness if you give me the chance to be in your life.

I’m ready. I’m Doc Holiday. And I want to be your huckleberry.

Doc Holiday is being fostered in Arkansas; however, don’t let location be a barrier, BRI can arrange transport to many states east of the Mississippi!

If your family would like to provide Doc with the home he deserves, please complete the adoption application at https://www.bullmastiffrescuers.net/forms.html You can complete an online version or download the application in Word.

Adoption donations for MIX BREED dogs with BRI range from $100 to $200. This is based on the age, health and training needs of the dog being adopted. 100% of donations are directed to the veterinary expenses of the dogs in our care. BRI is a non-profit organization so your donation may be considered tax deductible.
