Doc's Story

Doc’s story started in the scorching Arizona heat, wandering the streets alone in 100+ degree weather, just trying to make it through another day. At only two years old, he should have been safe at home, not out surviving the elements on his own.

But even in those conditions, Doc held onto something special… his spirit.

When he was found, he was carrying around an empty Dr. Pepper bottle, likely trying to get whatever last bits of liquid or nourishment he could find from it, as if it was something valuable. Of course, that little habit is part of what led to his name: Doc.

Since coming into our care, Doc has shown us exactly who he is: the sweetest, happiest little guy with so much love to give. He’s affectionate, goofy, and full of personality—the kind of dog who makes you smile without even trying. Despite everything he’s been through, there’s a lightness to him, a joy that hasn’t been dimmed.

Doc has also undergone BOAS (brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome) surgery and is recovering beautifully, already breathing more comfortably and feeling so much better as a result. It’s just another chapter in his journey back to health and a big step toward the life he always deserved.

Doc is ready for a home where he’ll never have to fend for himself again, a home where he can be cherished, safe, and loved the way he deserves. If you’re ready to open your heart to a dog who will give you everything he has, please submit an adoption application at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications. Once received, we’d be happy to answer any questions and arrange a meet-and-greet with Doc.
