Djinn Mountain Home's Story
LOOKING FOR SUPER EXPERIENCED ADOPTER. THIS IS A PROJECT DOG (or like owning an adult puppy for a while) !!!
Djinn Mountain Home is an approximately 2 year old male tricolour Jack Russell terrier who originated from a multidog hoarding environment in central Idaho. He was kept kenneled fulltime and was not socialized. He learned how to fence run and fence fight, and he has a super low excitement threshold. Djinn weighs 14 pounds. He is small and highly spannable.
Djinn is enormously affectionate and adores his foster human(s). He would do best in a home where someone had time and the patience to keep expanding his horizons. He would also do best as an only dog - he is not aggressive per se, but he gets over-excited with other dogs a mite too easily for our taste. One calm older female dog in his size range would be a good match. Djinn does food guard and should be fed separately. Very insecure boy.
Djinn has been started on leash and is doing well on rural hikes. The minuses are: he is NOT house trained (belly band in the house is the current routine) and not house safe. Do NOT put books or remotes or cell phones or shoes or area rugs down where he can access them! He does crate well if given a chew to while away the time. BIG minus: he gets car sick on even short rides. We ARE working on this.
This young dog is going to mature into a terrific dog in the right hands, but right now he is definitely a project dog/puppy in training for a terrier-experienced adopter. NO cats, no apartments, no small children, no small furries.
Djinn is in foster care in Clatskanie, Oregon. His adoption fee is $200.
