Dixon's Story

Meet Dixon — not for everyone, but everything to the right one

Dixon is a 9-year-old neutered Havanese–Shih Tzu mix with a whole lot of personality packed into a small body. Let's be clear up front: you don't pick Dixon — Dixon picks you. And when he does? He's yours for life.

This little guy is spicy, opinionated, and knows exactly what he wants. He sees out of one eye, so moving slow and respectfully is a must — once he feels safe, his loyalty runs deep. Dixon thrives with people who understand consent, patience, and letting trust grow on his timeline.

He does best as the only king of his castle.

Dixon isn't a starter dog or a crowd-pleaser — he's a soulmate dog. If you believe the best relationships are built on trust, boundaries, and mutual respect, Dixon just might choose you. Dixon's adoption dontion is $100, which includes his neuter, vaccines, and microchip. Hoof and Paw is assisting an over crouded rescue, which is where Dixon came from.

Hoof and Paw ART's Adoption Policy
Once an animal is deemed adoptable, when a potential adopter expresses interest, we will have them fill out an application. After reviewing it, we will do an interview to vet them. When possible, this will include a face to face with children, other dogs etc.. Then we will typically do a foster to adoption agreement. After a period of time (from a couple of weeks to a few months based on the animal and other factors), we will do a final adoption agreement. In some cases, such as a previous adopter in good standing, we may skip the foster step.
