Diesel's Story
Meet Diesel (aka Deez, Little Man, Kid) — a 1.5-year-old, ~60 lb boy who’s equal parts loyal companion and gentle soul. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people and take life as it comes. Diesel is learning that the world is a safe place again, and you can really see that progress in him every day.

At home, he’s calm, happy, and completely devoted — a true velcro dog who will follow you from room to room just to be near you. He loves to snuggle on the couch, burrow under blankets, and soak up the sun like it’s his full-time job. Outside, he can still be a bit unsure and nervous at times, but he doesn’t shut down — he just needs a little reassurance and time to build confidence.

Diesel has a really nice, balanced energy. He’s just as content having a slow, quiet day at home as he is heading out for walks or full-day adventures. He loves playing ball, enjoys his toys, and does especially well with puzzle games that keep his mind busy. He already knows sit, is working on lay down and paw, and walks beautifully on leash, naturally staying close to his handler. He’s also relearning that his crate is a safe space after not having the best start with it, and he’s making steady progress while continuing to build independence.

Socially, Diesel does well with other dogs and enjoys their company, especially when they’re respectful and introductions are done properly. He would do best in a home with dog-savvy kids 10+ or no kids, as loud noises and fast movements can make him uneasy. Cats haven’t been tested, but he doesn’t show strong prey drive.

Diesel’s biggest challenge right now is separation anxiety. He likely spent long periods alone in the past, so he may cry or howl briefly when left or when he can’t be near his people, especially in a crate — but he does settle. With patience, routine, and gradual training, this is already improving and will continue to get better. He also benefits from slow, positive exposure around children to help him feel safe and comfortable.

Medically, Diesel previously had bilateral ear disease, which has been fully treated, and he now tolerates ear cleaning very well. He does have some fur loss, likely related to stress or food sensitivities, but overall he’s doing well. His medical history will require a detailed conversation & the need for a bully breed friendly vet clinic is very important for future adopters.

Diesel would thrive in a calmer home with a steady routine — ideally with a fenced yard where he can run and play, and with people who are around often. He’d love a respectful dog companion, but he’d also be happy as the center of attention. Most importantly, he needs a home that understands he’s still learning and is willing to help him continue building confidence at his own pace.

Diesel is a gentle, loving boy who just wants to feel safe and loved — and once he does, he’ll be your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your best friend.
